THE KING SALMON FISHING in the Northwest, (Washington and Oregon) this season has been and still is the best overall salmon fishing we have seen in many years. We started catching fall kings the first of July in unbelievable numbers and our clients are still taking home limits of nice kings. The silver salmon run has not materialized in the numbers we expected. The late fall silvers have finally started to show.
Right now we are fishing salmon in Drano Lake, where the limit is three adult kings per person and our clients are taking home limits consistently. This is really fun productive fishing. No fin restrictions. Six clients are taking home eighteen kings in a days fishing. It does not get any better than this.
The Columbia River in the Longview, Woodland area, where the limit is two adult kings a day with no fin restrictions is producing limits of nice bright kings. You had better do this fishery soon while it lasts. These are really fresh bright quality kings.
There are plenty of big kings in the Lewis River, and the silvers will show shortly. Ten or twelve fish per boat a day is a normal day. No fin restrictions on the kings. We are releasing a number of dark fish each day.
The Cowlitz River has good numbers of kings, quite a few bright ones. Ten or twelve fish a day to the boat, releasing all fish with a fin.
Tillamook and Nehalem bays are both producing very good numbers of big bright kings and the silvers are starting to show in better numbers.
We are now taking reservations for our trophy king salmon fishing in Chile this coming February and March of 2016. I will be there guiding at that time. See October-November issue of Salmon Trout Steelhead just off the press page 68. Call Clancy for reservations.
We have lots of good fishing to offer you including an exciting adventure fishing for trophy kings in Chile.
