How it works; Start fishing steelhead on the Cowlitz river with Ron. When you are ready, get into your rig taking a short drive to meet Clancy on the Columbia river & fish sturgeon until sundown. Two expert guides fish steelhead & sturgeon for the price of one days fishing at regular prices.
Winter steelhead the Cowlitz river winter steelhead are in! They are big quality fish, averaging eight to fifteen pounds with some even larger. Ron’s client Derek Ivanoff recently landed a 40 inch, 20 pound giant Cowlitz steelhead. If you want to catch big, fresh run, quality steelhead, now is the time to go. We are fishing on a mix of late & early winter steelhead as well as early, late winter Steelhead right now. The late winter run has much larger numbers of steelhead in it. The quality of these big fish make it a very satisfying fishing day on the water.
We fish with light refined tackle using Edge rods by Gary Loomis & Jon Bial. You land some & lose some of these hard fighting, high jumping fish. You will never forget the fun & excitement of the battle. Everyone takes home some prime steelhead fillets for the table.
Fishing Keeper-Sturgeon below Bonneville Dam
If you want to catch & keep sturgeon in the Columbia River & it’s tributaries now is the time, you must go right away. Regulations are scheduled to change to a much more restricted keeper limit in February. This month is probably the last good keeper sturgeon retention you may ever be allowed to enjoy. The sturgeons below Bonneville are a far superior quality fighting & eating fish.
